Back To School Oui Go!
We’re kicking off the school year in style and can’t wait to share all of the fun details with you!
The inspiration for Oui Party’s back-to-school bash really took flight once we spotted these paper airplane backdrops from Featherlite Studios. How many paper airplanes do you remember making as a kid?!
When selecting the colors for the paper airplanes, we knew we wanted them to coordinate with the super cute backpacks and lunchboxes from our friends at State Bags.
We loved the way the backdrop also tied into the space, Makers Mess, which is an art studio in Royale’s neighborhood, Silver Lake, that offers art classes for kids and adults.
One of our favorite party activities is crafting, so hosting a party at a space literally made for that was a huge bonus! (Messes are encouraged, an even bigger bonus for mamas!)
The craft we chose for our fete was hand-stitched embroidery, and so, we decided what could be cuter than a monogrammed lunchbox?!
Well, we guess these kiddos could be cuter…
… especially in their new gear from Shop Sweet Threads. Pretty sure we didn’t have clothes this cute when we were little. (Hello, Mervyns!)
And those backpacks could not have been more bright or fun!
Are these kids going to school or to WERQ?!
Let’s talk party details. For the tabletop, we used an art table paper roll from the $3 bin at Target as a runner, which doubled as a second activity for the kiddos! We layered it on top of this yellow striped plastic tablecloth, a must when crafting!
Now for the yummy stuff, aka the stuff you would spend ALL of your lunch money on, the sweets from Butter Cake Shoppe. The idea for the pencil-shaving cake was lead by our recent trip to the Madonna Inn and their famous pink champagne cake.
For the cupcakes, a take on the classic apple, because a cupcake a day, keeps the blues away!
And to balance out the sweets with some healthier options, we used puzzle piece sandwich cutters, another Target find, to cut up watermelon.
Balled honeydew and kiss melon were dots of fun in these rainbow polka dot treat cups!
While the kids snacked on the sweets…
… we took the opportunity to try our hand at some stitching. Because, bonjour, oui like to party!
Like these adorable little notepads! Why not stick a cute message to your little pal in their lunchbox to cheer them up midday with these lunch notes?!
Who wouldn't want to come to party that came from this invite? Are adults allowed??
We hope back-to-school is high flying for you and your kiddo! Now, what to do with all that free time…
