Hey Mama Create and Celebrate Color Event

When Hey Mama approached But First, Party! to produce their Create and Celebrate Color event with Mixbook, I knew there was no one who I would rather team up with than Bonjour Fete to make it happen! I mean, her color coordination game cannot be beaten!

Since Hey Mama is all about connecting like-minded entrepreneurial mamas and helping to foster a sense of community over competition, it was a perfect fit for Oui Party’s first event together. Rachel and I were so inspired by the concept, Create and Celebrate Color, and immediately decided that Hedley & Bennett was the ultimate space to play in for this. You really just can’t go wrong with a rainbow color block wall, yellow slide, and swing set.

The infamous pink van, #ReadyFeteGo, even made the trip out to the apron factory. The shop staff at Bonjour Fete have worn these aprons from day one, and we got such a kick out of meeting the woman behind the brand, Ellen Bennett!

There was one hitch, however, as Hedley & Bennett was knee-deep in a kitchen remodel a couple of weeks out from the event. Luckily, their team of hustlers worked their magic and turned out the most incredible kitchen for us to bedazzle! We are huge fans of that Mercury Mosaics tile and those Caeser Stone countertops.

What better way to break-in the new kitchen than to fill it with yummy Mexican cuisine and treats from Puesto?! Olé all day!

Birdies had the most insanely gorgeous pink galaxy and rainbow galaxy donuts!

The yellow slide was simply begging for a balloon garland. We are always looking for the best way to attach garlands, and this structure made things easy-peasy. A huge bonus was being able to play when the job was done! We even turned the office space below into a colorful ball pit!

For the swing, we attached rows and rows of color-blocked rainbow tassels to create a movement moment in front of the rainbow mural. How adorable is Oh Joy’s daughter Coco?

Rachel and Sam got in on some of their own color block wall action…

There were all kinds of other activities taking place inside, between the super Mixbook wall…

… and the Maker’s Mess Rainbow Book station… the kids had lots of fun activities to keep them busy.

Still, the activity we think the kids enjoyed the most was the bubble station! We have been dying to use bubble balloons for a while now, and knew this was the ideal time to float the idea by the group and turn it into a reality. For the backdrop, we used loads of bubble balloons (which last for at least a week) and attached rainbow tassels for some fringey flair.

Then, we commissioned the team from The Bubble Playground to build a bubble station with refilling bubble pools and a variety of wands for the kids (or moms) to try.

They even created giant bubbles around the kiddos! Weelicious’s Catherine McCord’s daughter Chloe got in on the sudsy fun!

However, the best part of The Bubble Playground was the show that world-renowned bubble artist, Harry Jung, put on for the families!

The turnout for the event was more than we could have ever hoped for; we’d like to give a big thanks to our families and friends for always supporting us and making us smile!

Fun was had by all and we can’t wait to do it all again. So, what are you waiting for? Take the first step (link to contact page) to let us help you make your dreams come true—we promise to put our best foot forward.
